PRUDENTIAL CAROLINAS FAMILY OF COMPANIES EXCITED ABOUT BROOKFIELD ACQUISITION ANNOUNCEMENT
WINSTON-SALEM, NC – On Tuesday, December 6th, Prudential Real Estate Affiliates announced that Prudential Real Estate and Prudential Relocation Services were acquired by Brookfield Residential Property Services. Brookfield is a leading residential real estate franchising and employee relocation services expert, part of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., a NYSE listed asset manager with approximately $150 billion of assets under management, meticulously put together during a 100-year history.
This transaction creates a new industry powerhouse and establishes Brookfield as the #3 player in the North American residential real estate brokerage market with almost 80,000 real estate agents and 2,800 locations. Brookfield is #2 in relocation services having 35% of Fortune 100 companies as relocation clients. Brookfield has grown and continues to grow like no other in the real estate relocation services industries.
“While we are excited about the Brookfield announcement, it will have no affect on our company’s organizational structure, no changes will occur to our branding, and our existing tools and business processes will remain the same,” says Tommy Camp, President and CEO of the Prudential Carolinas Realty family of companies which includes Prudential Carolinas Realty in Winston-Salem and Charlotte, Prudential York Simpson Underwood Realty in the Triangle, and Prudential Yost & Little Realty in Greensboro.
Prudential Carolinas Realty, Prudential York Simpson Underwood Realty, and Prudential Yost & Little Realty are among the largest franchisees within the Prudential Real Estate network. The companies are wholly owned and operated by HomeServices of America, Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway affiliate and one of the largest and fastest‐growing real estate organizations in America and the second largest real estate services company in the nation.
“Brookfield and Prudential are a great fit, sharing a passion for the business and a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, and combined will be part of a bigger, stronger organization – which is good for our clients and sales associates,” says Camp. He believes this will bring expanded relocation opportunities for his firm’s clients and sales associates, new enhancements to the many support systems and sales tools available to his sales associates that help in serving their clients, and improved online marketing resources over time.
“The bottom line,” says Camp, “is that Brookfield is committed to growth which will greatly benefit our clients and sales associates. This acquisition is a win-win for all parties.”

During Prudential Carolinas Realty’s fall food drive, sales associates and staff collected more than 5000 pounds of food for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. More than $2000 in financial contributions benefitted even more neighbors in need. Contributions will feed thousands of needy Carolinians, providing nutrition to those who need it most, including young children and the elderly.
Prudential Carolinas Realty held the food drive in conjunction with Prudential Financial’s 14th Annual Global Volunteer Day, a day set aside to encourage all Prudential affiliates to participate in a local charitable cause. This year alone, more than 32,000 Prudential employees, clients, customers and friends participated in more than 800 projects in 11 different countries.
Prudential Carolinas Realty worked with food banks in the three major metropolitan markets of North Carolina to find out exactly what foods and grocery items were most needed and then asked sales associates and staff to bring in items from the list.
“There are literally hundreds of thousands of people across the Carolinas who are at risk of hunger due to the significantly depleted food supplies at all of our food banks. I am proud of the results of our first food drive,” Tommy Camp, President and CEO of Prudential Carolinas Realty, said, adding that more Prudential Carolinas Realty food drives are planned for 2009.
“The demand for food assistance is, unfortunately, increasing dramatically. With the number of recent employee layoffs, seniors living on fixed incomes and families with children living in poverty, the challenge to feed hungry individuals continues to grow. We appreciate Prudential Carolinas Realty and its employees stepping up during these challenging economic times!” Clyde W. Fitzgerald, Jr., Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, said.
To find out how you can help feed the hungry in our area, please speak with your Prudential Carolinas Realty sales associate or visit the Web site of the food bank that serves your area – Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina (Triangle region):www.foodbankcenc.org; Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (Charlotte region):www.secondharvestcharlotte.org ; or Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina: www.hungernwnc.org
